EE Professor Owen Garriott, MS '57, PhD '60 (EE), is chosen for training as Stanford's first scientist-astronaut. In 1973, he is a science-pilot for Skylab-3, the second manned Skylab mission. The crew completes 858 revolutions of the Earth during the 59-day flight, and conducts 333 medical experiments.
