The School of Engineering holds volunteering events to encourage local alumni to get involved in their community and to update alumni on related research. June 2007, for example, featured a chance to clean up the beach in Half Moon Bay, Calif., and to hear about faculty research on cleaning up coastal waters. All Engineering volunteer events are sponsored by Stanford Associates.

BASES Social Entrepreneur's Challenge mentors | View »
The Business Association for Stanford Engineering Students needs mentors for its annual social entrepreneurship competition. Volunteers will guide a team of students through brainstorming an idea for a social venture, writing a business plan, and pitching the plan to judges.

Exploring New Worlds | View »
This one-day event held in the early spring exposes fourth and fifth graders to the world of science and engineering through hands-on workshops and competitions. Volunteers help run interactive workshops, assist the students, serve as translators, and more.

Graduate Peer Advisor Program
This program for engineering undergraduates invites guest alumni to help introduce students to the professional world. Alumni interested in hosting luncheons and office tours should contact Assistant Dean of Student Affairs Noe Lozano at 650.723.9107.

Mechanical Engineering Women's Group | View »
This student group hosts an annual seminar series and a welcome program for all women engineers. Graduate alumnae are needed to participate as speakers and panelists. For more information contact Professor Sheri Sheppard.
