"I received a job offer from a company I met at the last job fair. Thank you very much for putting the fair together. The company is Medallia, and they are an industry leader in customer feedback management."
When is the Alumni Job Fair?
Tuesday, September 18, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In 2008, we are also hosting a post-event Alumni Networking Reception. from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. for alumni and recruiters.
What’s the Alumni Networking Reception?
This is new for 2008. We’ll be hosting a reception from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. for all Bay Area alumni. AJF recruiters will be invited to attend as well. Refreshments will be served and all attendees are invited to socialize with each other in a less formal setting. The reception will be held on the first floor of the Computer History Museum.
Where is the AJF?
The Alumni Job Fair is being held at the Computer History Museum located at 1401 N. Shoreline Boulevard in Mountain View, CA.
Do I need to register?
Yes, advance registration is requested. On-line registration for alumni will begin Friday August 1, 2008.
Is there a fee to attend?
No. The event is free.
Who can register for this event?
The event is only open to Stanford alumni. Although the AJF is designed especially for Stanford Engineering alumni, alumni from other schools at Stanford are welcome to attend. In addition to a high concentration of technical jobs, employers are also recruiting for general management, marketing/sales, and business development positions (consult the Participating Companies link to see a detailed listing of positions being offered). The career seminars at the AJF will focus on general career search topics and will be suitable for all alumni.
I am a current Stanford student. Can I register for this event?
The Alumni Job Fair is sponsored expressly for alumni who are looking for new career options and are available to start working right away. Since most students are not available to start working immediately, we ask that students do not register for the Alumni Job Fair. Stanford sponsors several career fairs for students during the year including the Career Development Center's Career Fair in October and the School of Engineering's Opportunity Job Fair in January.
Can I bring a guest?
Yes, if your guest is a Stanford alumnus/a, but we request that each attendee register on-line. Because the event is sponsored expressly for Stanford alumni we are unable to accommodate non-Stanford alumni guests.
How will I know if the jobs/companies I am interested in will be at the Fair?
Click on the Participating Companies link to see the current listing of recruiting companies with a description of the jobs available and qualifications sought.
How many recruiting organizations will participate in the AJF?
In 2007, more than 90 companies attended. We expect at least that number for 2008.
Should I bring a résumé?
Yes! You should plan to bring multiple copies. There are no copy services available at the Computer History Museum so be sure to bring plenty of résumés to hand out.
What is the dress code?
There is no formal dress code although business casual or professional dress is recommended.
Where can I find out more information about Stanford's career services for alumni?
Representatives from the Career Development Center, the Stanford Alumni Association and the Stanford Center for Professional Development will be at the fair to provide you with information about career services for alumni.
Where can I get something to drink or eat while attending the fair?
Light refreshments will be available in the lobby on the 2nd floor of the museum and in the Alumni Lounge area. We will also be serving refreshments at the Alumni Networking Reception.
