Stanford Engineering

Volunteer Leadership: A Broad Perspective

Engineering Advisory Council | View »
Made up of leaders from academia and industry, the council consults directly with the dean, providing a valued outside perspective on the school's programs and plans.

Members are nominated by the departments and formally invited to membership by the president of the university. Members come from a mix of academic, research, and executive backgrounds, and all have significant technical expertise within their fields.

The members meet annually to offer a detailed, critical review of Stanford Engineering's current programs and future directions. Besides producing a formal report to the provost, the council serves as a bridge to the engineering community, communicating the school's goals and programs, as well as faculty and student achievements.

These dedicated volunteers provide strategic advice to the dean about the school's financial resources. Serving by invitation, they manage a significant portion of the engineering endowment. These leaders give generously of their time and expertise. Stanford Engineering thanks them for their service.
